The short version: The Crown Can Bite Me is a reader site built on public data. Browsing it is anonymous. We don’t run ad trackers, we don’t build advertising profiles, and we don’t sell anything about you — because we don’t collect anything to sell.
The pages — the manifesto, the ledgers, the charts, the meme repository, the research — are plain documents. Visiting them sets no cookies, requires no account, and asks for no personal information. The numbers on those pages come from public government and market data sources, not from you.
If — and only if — you use The Round Table (our discussion forum), your
browser is issued a single functional cookie named guyid. It maps to a
random, anonymous number (your “handle”) so your own posts stay attributable
to you across visits. It contains no name, no email, and no login. It is not
used for advertising or cross-site tracking. If you never post, you never get it.
When you post to the forum, rate an article, or leave a flame, we store exactly what you type — the text of your post, an optional image you attach, your anonymous handle, and a timestamp. That content is public by design. Don’t put private information in a public post.
Like every web server, ours briefly processes your IP address to deliver pages and to rate-limit abuse (so one visitor can’t flood the forum). We do not store your IP address alongside your posts, and we do not use it to identify you.
The Codex encrypt/decrypt tool runs entirely in your browser. Your message and your key never leave your device and are never transmitted to or stored by us.
We operate official accounts on third-party platforms (including Facebook and X/Twitter) and publish our own content to them automatically. This is outbound only — we post our material to our own accounts. We do not read your social media, we do not access your social accounts, and connecting our automation to a platform gives us no access to any other user’s data. Anything you do on those platforms is governed by that platform’s own privacy policy.
Pages may load assets or embeds from third-party services (for example, mapping or market-data providers used by specific tools). Those providers handle requests under their own privacy policies. We do not share any user records with them, because we don’t keep user records to share.
This site is intended for a general adult audience and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
If this policy changes, we’ll update the date at the top of this page.
